Community
Parents are our children’s first teachers and are the most important partner in the learning journey at Telferscot.
It is vital that parents see themselves as involved in everything that we do – and that all parents have a voice in some of the decisions that are made every day that affect the children learning here.
We share and celebrate everything that is going on at Telferscot through our weekly newsletters. All our teachers' email addresses can be found on this website to help facilitate clear channels of communication. Families have access to the year group Microsoft Teams channels to ask questions, find out about home learning, and receive reminders about things that are coming up. It is vital that schools and families work together to help the children achieve to the best of their abilities.
We are lucky to have a richly diverse community and strive to ensure everything we do at Telferscot reflects and celebrates this. Time and time again, our community has come together to support each other when times have been tough and countless life long friendships have been built over the years. Parents and carers regularly get together for a hot drink and a cake at our School House Cafe every Friday morning or at our many family events over the course of the year. All parents are members of the Telferscot Parent and Staff Association who play a crucial role in raising money and providing that something special that makes Telferscot fantastic!
We love involving parents and carers in school activities. Children are always enthralled when someone comes in to share their knowledge and expertise in an assembly, and we are always on the lookout for parents and carers who have time to listen to the children read or help out on school trips. Please contact your child's class teacher if you are available to help.
Parent Governors sit on the school’s Governing Body, making sure that all decisions are made in the best interests of the whole community. We will announce in the newsletter when elections are due to be held so please get in touch if you are interested.
