Our Governors
What do the Governors do?
Telferscot has a Governing Body consisting of 14 governors at full strength. It is the first point of accountability for the school's management. Working with the school's leadership, it sets the strategic direction for the school, monitors how well the school is doing, and keeps an eye on its finances.
The Governing Body reconstituted on 1 October 2019. There remain four Governors elected by the school's parents, one is appointed by the Local Authority, one is elected by staff and the Headteacher is also a Governor. In addition, the Governing Body can appoint up to seven Co-opted Governors, including one from Support staff. If vacancies arise, further appointments will be made to recruit the necessary skills to the Governing Body. Please contact the PA to the Governing Body regarding vacancies.
The full Governing Body meets formally four times a year. It has three full time committees: Standards and Curriculum (which looks at pupil progress class by class), Resources (which considers financial, staff and premises matters) and Inclusion (which is responsible for Special Educational Needs and Safeguarding). These committees all meet three or more times a year. The Governing Body also has an ad hoc pay committee which reviews the application of the Pay and Performance Management policies and also sets pay scales for senior staff.

Any Issues?
The Governors welcome feedback about how the school is performing, good or bad. The Governors cannot take up issues relating to an individual child in the first instance, but are concerned with anything that reflects on the general running of the school. Please contact us on the email address given below.
We hope that you do not have any complaints about the school, or that if you do, you can resolve them with the school staff. But if things don't work out the Governors can also hear formal complaints.
You can email the Governors on tpsgovernors@telferscot.co.uk
