Bonfire night!

30 Oct 2019

This week we have been learning all about Bonfire Night and fireworks! The children made some amazing fireworks using junk modelling and also had go at writing some adjectives to describe the fireworks we have seen and made. They created the most beautiful and colourful fireworks paintings and pictures too! We also focussed on safety and being sensible during these events.

The children have also loved their new Phonics lessons these last two weeks! We have been working on the following sounds -

... do work on these at home to get your child recognising these really confidently :)

We also have a greater focus on their maths learning this term, specifically learning the names and characteristics of 2D shapes, counting in order and using our fingers and marks to represent the numbers we are talking about. You can help at home by encouraging your child to count at home, from counting as they walk up the stairs, to counting how many knives and forks they need to lay at the table for dinner, to counting the fruit in the fruit bowl as they help to unpack the shopping! Don't forget to encourage them to then try and write the numerals.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Parents' Conferences this week and have a lovely weekend. Many thanks as always for your continuing support!
