Welcome 6LA families, friends and fans!
This week we have started our Black History Month topic: Refugee Boy by Benjamin Zephaniah!
It has been fantastic to see how well our children have responded to the emotionally challenging topic of asylum seekers and refugees and how this impacts upon the individuals within our state system. We have been learning about the story of Alem, who is caught in the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea and forced to leave for England with his father. Check out some extracts from the book in the link below!
If you're interested in all things linked to Black History Month, why not have a look at Horrible Histories on BBC iPlayer, which has some great clips to celebrate this fantastic month: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07pd843/horrible-histories-specials-black-history-month-with-oti-mabuse
Finally, as it is World Mental Health Day today, why not check out these great clips from Newsround to explore why wellbeing is important for us all and what we can do to look after ourselves! https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/49923691
Have a great week!
