This week we have started our celebration of Black History Month. The whole school is celebrating this month over the next two weeks and focusing on a different poet or author. We have been studying Maya Angelou, we have looked at some of her poetry and started to study her life. We will be writing a biography about her next week after researching facts.
We have also been looking at poetry from other black authors such as, Benjamin Zephaniah, John Agard and James Berry. Some of the poems can be found here: https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/explore/?key=&type=&poet=&theme=134&form=&age=.
In maths this week we have been solving some real life problems, we were given £35 to spend on a weekly shop, we used the Thinkpads to find the price of each product and added it together in our books. We looked at a food pyramid too, to make sure we didn't buy too many sweets!
In our Hamlet rehearsals we have been creating a dance to add into our performance, this has been so much fun!
Don't forget, you are welcome to our whole school harvest assembly at 9am on Friday 18th, followed by our open house morning 9:20-9:45. In the afternoon we have our class assembly!
We hope to see you there!
