Relationships and Sex Education

An emphasis is placed on children’s personal health and various aspects are studied throughout the year.

The children are encouraged to find out about themselves, their physical, emotional and moral development.  This ensures that they learn respect for themselves and others and that they develop positive relationship skills.

Telferscot offers an environment in which all pupils are encouraged to develop self awareness, self esteem, confidence, and a sense of independence and responsibility.  We follow a programme that examines development, health, hygiene, diet and personal safety. Parents are involved in every aspect of this and the content of the lessons is always age appropriate and handled sensitively.

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the teaching of the non-statutory elements of these sessions after a discussion at school.
