We have the benefit of learning many different and wide ranging sports. We have dedicated sports coaches who teach our PE lessons to both the Infant and Junior classes every week, providing a high quality curriculum that inspires all children to succeed and excel. Our children are physically confident and through sport are taught the importance of fairness and respect, good team-play and good sportsmanship.

Our school has a strong commitment to developing fit, active and engaged children.

We will have a go at anything! In the Infants, children take part in less formal P.E. lessons which develop their skills in a range of different areas – such as running, catching, throwing, jumping, etc. In this way, children are given a solid grounding in the skills that they will need to progress their learning in more formal sports as they move into Juniors.

Our children have the opportunity to develop their skills in a vast range of sports including football, cricket, netball, basketball, cycling, swimming, gymnastic, tag-rugby and cross country. Lessons are taught in line with upcoming competitions to ensure that children are given the best possible opportunity to represent their school in their chosen sport.

We try to take advantage of every opportunity going and our children love to take part. At almost every competition and festival we attend our children are commended for their great attitude, team work and fantastic sports kits!

In addition to our PE lessons we also have blocks of swimming lessons at Balham Sports Centre for children in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5. We aim for every child to swim 25 metres or more by the time they leave us in Year 6.

Sports Day

Our Annual Junior Sports Day takes place at Tooting Athletics Track where children compete in their houses to win the Sports Day Cup. Events include Long jump, High jump, Javelin, Shot-putt, long distance and short distance running and relay. Parents love joining in the fun too and cheering their children on. Our Infant classes have their own Sports Day which takes place on Tooting Common. The Infant Sports Day includes lots of fun races and challenges incorporating multiple sporting skills. This is a fun event full of old favourites like the Sack race and Egg and Spoon race – to name a few. This gives our younger children huge amount of enjoyment as well as a taste of the competition of Sports Day. Our Year 6 children assist with the running of this event taking the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
